Sarawak programmes
We have already been in the villages.
Have a look. A briefing under a tent. A hall full of neighbours. Hands in a compost drum. This is the part of Eco Doliya that does not sit on a shelf. We work with communities so they take their own food waste, and the climate trouble that comes with throwing it away. They are not waiting on us. We are in it with them.
01
First, the briefing
The record starts in a tent and at a table. Food waste is explained to a leader, then shown as something people separate with their hands.
Briefing to YB Datuk Haji Len Talif Salleh
Sarawak
A standing briefing under a tent. The subject is food waste as a community task, put to a state leader before any facility exists.
Demonstration on food-waste segregation
Community programme
The same idea, now on the table. Waste is separated in front of the group, rather than mixed and sent on.
02
Then the villages
From that briefing the work moves into halls: an agency programme, a women’s wing, a council, and a resident’s office.
Compost-making demonstration
LCDA programme
During an LCDA programme the method is demonstrated in the hall. Compost is made and explained there, not promised from a plant.
Participants in an LCDA programme
Kg Nale Lama, Kota Samarahan
The group at Kg Nale Lama after the programme. The work is carried by the people in the room, not by a single operator.
Compost programme with PBB Wanita Muara Tuang
Kg Entingan, Kota Samarahan
The hall at Kg Entingan is full. PBB Wanita Muara Tuang hosts the compost programme with the village.
Appreciation by Datin Hidayah
Representative of YB Idris Buang
On a Smart Farming stage, Datin Hidayah, representing YB Idris Buang, gives an appreciation. The village sessions are recognised in public.
Compost programme with MPKS
Taman Samarindah, Kota Samarahan
MPKS hosts the programme at Taman Samarindah. The same subject moves from a kampung hall into a housing area.
Programme with the Samarahan Resident’s Office
With YB Rubiah Wang, Kg Melayu
The Resident’s Office holds the programme with YB Rubiah Wang at Kg Melayu. Another kampung, the same briefing.
03
Then the yard
The hall empties into a booth, a pit, and a drum. This is where coconut husk and kitchen waste are actually turned.
Exhibition booth
Kg Melayu 2, Kota Samarahan
After the briefing, the booth stays up at Kg Melayu 2. A table and a banner, left where people walk past.
Compost workshop
Kg Merembeh, Bau
At Kg Merembeh the workshop leaves the chairs behind. The pit is dug in the grass, beside a drum.
Compost workshop
Kg Moyan Laut, Kota Samarahan
At Kg Moyan Laut the drum is already full. Husk and waste are turned by hand under the shed.
Compost from coconut husk
Kg Moyan Laut, Kota Samarahan
The same yard, and the material the village has: coconut husk, on its way to compost.
04
Then into the room where ventures are judged
The village method is taken to an entrepreneurship day, a pitch, a startup weekend, and a briefing for Customs.
Social Entrepreneurship Day
KBS Sarawak, Merdeka Plaza
KBS Sarawak hosts Social Entrepreneurship Day at Merdeka Plaza. The compost work sits in a hall of other ventures.
Booth at Social Entrepreneurship Day
Sarawak
The booth that day: banners, a table, and the same story told to people crossing the floor.
Pitching the compost project
Community session
The project is pitched from a slide to a small room. The screen carries the method; the speaker carries the ask.
Startup Weekend Kota Samarahan
Kota Samarahan
At Startup Weekend the banner in the photograph sets the tone: no talk, all action. The compost project is in that room.
Compost programme briefing
Royal Malaysian Customs, Sarawak
The programme is briefed to the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, Sarawak. The explanation that began in a kampung is given to an agency.
